A bodaboda operator died after his motorcycle was hit by a lorry on Tuesday evening.
The 5.30pm incident occurred at Gateway roundabout on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko who confirmed the incident said the bodaboda operator was knocked down by a lorry that was heading to Nakuru from Eldoret.
“The driver of lorry knocked down the bodaboda operator along Gateway roundabout killing him on the spot,” said Kioko.
The police boss cautioned drivers to be very careful when driving and also respect other road users.
“Drivers should exercise caution when on roads to avoid reckless road accidents,” he said.
He warned drivers who flout traffic rules that tough action will be taken against them.
“Police will not spare careless drivers because we can't allow them to continue causing accidents,” said Kioko.
He said the driver of the lorry sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Nakuru Provincial General Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
John Mbugu who witnessed the accident said the lorry was moving at high speed and the driver failed to control it upon reaching the roundabout hence causing the accident.
The body of the deceased was taken to Nakuru mortuary while the wreckage of the lorry and the motorcycle were towed to Nakuru Central police station.
