Residents of Riana village in Bonchari sub-county were shocked on Tuesday after a man committed suicide at a nearby forest.
The man identified as Elijah Nyamwamu, 38, used a rope to hang himself from a tree in his neighborhood.
According to an eye witness, Jared Nyakoe's lifeless body was found dangling from a tree by one of his children who shouted alerting the public.
Confirming the incident Riana location assistant chief, Lilian Metobo said the man was left alone at home while his wife went to market.
She said the reason why he committed suicide is not yet known as the man did not leave a suicide noted. She said before his death the deceased was doing Jua Kali work at Suneka Town.
She added that the man has left behind two children and has been staying well with family and the community at large but had began behaving strangely in the last two months.
“He could sometimes say that there are people following him and could run and hide under the bed,” said Lilian.
She said some people are cutting their life short after they discover they have contracted HIV/AID and asked the society not to leave such people on their own.
