A politician from Borabu constituency has offered to unite his colleagues amidst escalating political temperatures ahead of the 2017 elections.
This comes after top aspirants were engaged in a scuffle at a fundraising on Friday, forcing Matutu police to intervene.
Speaking on Tuesday, Mr Amos Akenga who is among the contenders for the seat, urged his colleagues to embrace each other for the sake of development in the region which he said had stalled due to persistent political wrangles.
Akenga said reconciliation was important to ease political tensions and spur quick growth among residents of the constituency.
“Reconciliation and tolerance are key in politics. If we engage in tough battles inciting our constituents, it will only impede development. I am ready to unite the four of us because our people need us. Development is the key thing for our people,” he said.
Akenga urged elders to work closely with him to bring his three counterparts to the negotiating table and help in chatting the way forward in the constituency.
“My conscious cannot allow me to sit back and watch politicians engage in that titanic battle. I have spoken with the elders and Ihope they will help get all the aspirants and the incumbent on board. We have to solve the impasse because elections are far,” he added.
