At least thirty primary school teachers selected from a number of schools in Borabu constituency received Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training to improve their computer skills.
The training, sponsored by area MP Ben Momanyi targets 200 teachers from the region in a bid to cut expenses incurred in the institutions when seeking ICT services.
Speaking on Wednesday at Menyenya Secondary School, coordinator Mr Julius Mokaya said the constituency leadership was keen to see at least every teacher with basic computer and ICT skills to help them use computers and printers that will be shared among institutions soon to ease the cost of exam setting.
“Our aim is to have at least 200 primary school teaches get the training in the next couple of weeks so that they can be able to handle ICT machines like computers and printers which the area leadership is about to donate. It will cut drastically the expenses required even in setting of exams,” he said.
He said the training will be held after every three months and will target reaching many other teachers who were interested in the ICT sector.
“We know the 200 are not enough because we have many others who are willing. Maybe we will increase the number soon to reach more interested parties,” he added.
Mr Mokaya said all primary schools will receive a computer and a printer with the main centers for setting mock test exams receiving a modern printer to increase the frequency at which students are subjected to texts prior to national exams.
