Business owners in Kiambu Town have been urged to write wills so as to avoid the inheritance wrangles which follow after death.

Adressing business owners during a one day workshop at the community hall in Kiambu Town on Friday, Mr Peter Ndewa, the Chairman of Small Scale Enterprises (SMES) said they were concerned that many of their members were dying intestate which he said caused a lot of problems for the organisation.

“Writing a will solves many issues and it even makes it easier for the leaders to organise a respectable send-off for our members, but in most cases we become mediators and yet we are not qualified,’’ said Ndewa.

Ndewa said the Kiambu law courts are congested with inheritance cases because property owners in the county die intestate.

Th chairman urged the members to make a personal resolution and draft wills so as to safeguard their property after they die.

He said the assumption that writing a will is akin to welcoming death was erroneous and nobody has ever died just because they wrote a will.

During the workshop, the SMEs members were also taught on how to save in unit trusts so as to grow their profits.

Ndewa said nobody can ignore SMEs anymore since they are now the prime movers of the economy.
