A woman was arraigned before a Nakuru court on Monday for falsely obtaining money from a client.

Purity Karimi was accused jointly with others not before court of falsely obtaining Sh730,000 from Wesly Kiplagat, pretending that she was in a position to sale her a Motor vehicle, Nissan Venette on diverse dates from January 27, 2014 and June 6, 2014 within Nakuru Town.

Karimi also faced another charge of obtaining Sh650,000 from Philip Marukuen, for her to sell him the same vehicle, on dates between September 6, 2014 and October, 17, 2014.

According to police file, Karimi is a director of Value (K) Limited and she received the money since Kiplagat wanted to buy the vehicle in instalments.

Kiplagat and the accused agreed on a Sh950,000 for the vehicle and he deposited the amount in two instalments.

The court heard that Kiplagat was not given the car he had paid for and he reported the matter to the police and she was arrested on September 11.

Her lawyer David Monger urged the court to consider giving his client a favourable cash bail pending the settlement of the case outside the court.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Joel Ng'eno, she pleaded not guilty and was given a Sh500, 000 surety bond with one surety and an alternative cash bail of Sh400,000.

The case will be heard on October 19.
