Kiambu County TNA coordinator also known for her fight against drug abuse and alcoholism, Gladys Chania has said the only solution to curbing drug abuse is by taking the campaigns to schools.
Speaking to Alliance High School students in Kikuyu sub-county on Wednesday, Chania said she is determined to end the menace and she is sure of winning the battle.
She added that the recent deaths that were caused by consumption of illicit brew can be tamed and avoided completely if members of the society unite in the fight against illicit brew.
Chania said the residents live with the same people who sell the drugs to the youths yet they do not report the culprits to the police.
“This is not an easy battle but I am sure we will win it together. If we offer information to the relevant authorities about the issues emerging on the ground and about those selling the illegal liquor, we will indeed win this fight,” she said.
She called upon the young leaders to join hands and mobilise the youth, especially those in schools and sensitise them on the effects of drug and alcohol abuse as well as mentor them before they start engaging in the menace.
Chania said she will partner with the area leaders in Kiambu County in holding public rallies and meetings aimed at educating the youth on the effects of drug abuse.
