Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged Kenyans to embrace their culture and heritage.
Speaking when he officially flagged off the Inter-County Games at the County Hall Grounds in Eldoret on Monday, Chemno said that Kenya has a rich cultural diversity that should be maintained.
The deputy governor said that Kenya is among the few countries in the world that values her culture.
“Kenyans should be proud of their different cultures and values and be ready to maintain them,” he said.
The deputy county boss said Kenya’s diverse cultures has seen it grow economically adding that tourists from across the world stream the county to learn about the divergent cultures and values.
The deputy governor asked county governments to start programmes that will enable its people showcase their cultures.
Chemno said that through culture, Kenyans will be able to embrace and accommodate each others values and in the process, promote peace and unity.
He asked participants taking part in the Inter-County Games to take time and learn about Uasin Gishu cultures and values.
He said the county has a lot which Kenyans from other communities can learn about.
The Inter-County Games started on Monday and involves teams from all the 47 counties competing in various sports.
