Uasin Gishu County Deputy governor Daniel Chemno has told medics that the county administration would not condone absenteeism in healthcare facilities.
Speaking in his office on Tuesday Chemno said that he had witnessed levels of absenteeism, laxity and poor service delivery in his visits to the ziwa and Ainabkoi hospitals. He said high number of absentee nurses in the hospitals could not be justified.
"This is clearly a case of desertion of duty and we will not tolerate this. There are many people in need of health services so we cannot afford to have so many away from work," he said.
He urged patients to be vigilant and report any cases of absenteeism and poor service delivery promising prompt action.
"Its your right to be treated since its your tax that is being used in offering such services and you are mandated to report any laxity and I promise stern actions will be taken against the," said Chemno.
