Juja Farm Location Chief Sarah Nduta has lauded residents for embracing the Nyumba Kumi Initiative saying no crime incident has been reported to her for several weeks.

The chief noted that crime has gone down following the introduction and adoption of the initiative and that residents have learnt how to keep their areas secure on their own.

Nduta who was speaking at a security meeting on Sunday in Juja said that the area was a no-go zone before the initiative was introduced.

“These are our efforts. This area was a hot spot before but when we sat down and deliberated on our security, things have changed and we are now secure,” the administrator said.

The chief further lauded residents for maintaining good relations with local administration leaders and law enforcers. She said the public is the only weapon to fight crime in any area as without their participation, there is no progress.

She said that residents have been providing crucial information to the police, a move that has seen crime rates go down.

The chief urged villagers to maintain the good working relations with the police noting that it will help weed out criminals that might be tempted to cause problems. She also asked villagers to be vigilant and report suspicious people to security agencies.

Nduta has been promised a motorcycle by the area MP Francis Munyua to enable her intensify her security patrols with the MP admitting that she is the best chief in Juja constituency so far.
