Kisumu District Commissioner Moses Ole Tutui has said national government has allocated security funds for the chiefs and their assistants countrywide.

Speaking to Journalsts in his office on Wednesday, Commissioner Ole Tutui said that they are yet to receive the money in the bank. Ole Tutui said each chief and his assistant will get Sh12,000 and Sh8,000 respectively on quarterly basis.

He said the money would be used by the chiefs for airtime, domestic travelling and stationery.

"Last financial year chiefs received Sh9,000 while their assistants got Sh6,000. This money will assist them in emergency security mobilisation," said Commissioner Ole Tutui.

The Kisumu DC said last month the security officers recovered four AK 47 and three pistols. "This is a step forward in security within Kisumu. We also gunned four notorious gang group. In addition we have Quick Response Unit in Kisumu," said Ole Tutui.

He said the Quick Response Unit comprising 49 officers was deployed in June and they have two vehicles to help in the operations.

"The Quick Response Unit will reinforce security in areas that are notorious in insecurity," said Kisumu DC.

Commissioner Ole Tutui added that the crack down on illicit brew and withdrawal off license of bar operators near schools, hospitals, churches and residential places will be enforced.
