Following the call to have all churches in the country vetted, church leaders are in a dilemma over the issue due to conflicting church, constitutional and political policies.

Speaking from his office on Friday at St. Peters and Paul Church, Father in charge, Peter Mburu said that church squabbles were an indicator that the church needs vetting.

He added that even before the vetting of the church leaders begins, churches should first be registered.

“The government needs to certify a church before they start vetting church leaders to avoid questionable churches from mushrooming,” he said.

He also noted that with certification, there will be order which will help avoid confrontations over church funds and other policies. Father Mburu added that church members should pray for discernment.

Addressing the same issue, Lords Gathering Centre Reverend and Secretary of all African Bishop Council, Morris Mwarandu said that the government ought to leave the matters of church to God to sort them out.

He added that vetting churches would be irrelevant but he called on church members to be vigilant since vetting will be interfering with the freedom of worship and opinion which are constitutional rights.
