Leaders and elders in Yatta have been urged to encourage youth to maintain traditional cultures.
Speaking during a Cultural and Resource Development Initiative meeting on Thursday, Yatta Assistant County Commissioner Stephen Kavulu said preserving culture can help youth exploit their talents.
He said youth in the area have numerous talents but lack avenues to exploit their potential.
He said many people from the Kamba community have abandoned their culture and adopted the western way of life.
Mr Kavulu said collecting and preserving artifacts can help the youth get occupied.
The chairman of the initiative, Mwathani Mbaka said the CRDI was formed to help save the Kamba culture that is slowly fading away.
He said the initiative would organise activities including marathon races and cultural festivals to keep youth busy.
