The Global Alliance Community library in Ayany village is playing a great role in trying to quench the educational thirst for students in Kibera.
Located in Ayany, opposite the main stage, the squeezed library has helped many students in the area.
According to the assistant library attendant Daniel Omondi, most students in the area need more information which they only access from the library.
The library serves students from the primary school to college level.
The students are said to have greatly achieved their dreams by doing their research and personal studies from the library.
Angel Habiba, loves studying from the library because it provides a conducive environment for personal studies.
“I can barely concentrate when I study from the house because of too much noise from my neighbours. I prefer studying from the library,” said Habiba.
Marvin Lipuko, a college student said the library is cheap since they only require to pay a membership card fee of Sh 20 per month to study.
“Being near my home, its quick and cheap to do my research,’’ he said.
Omondi, however, said the community library needs to be expanded to accommodate more people who want to study.
"The books in the library too are not enough to serve the entire community,’’ said Omondi on Thursday.
