Road contractors in Nyamira County have revealed that they have been undergoing various challenges in their job due to lack of enough machines and equipment.
This comes after the county procured new machines for road construction, a move that has been lauded by the contractors, saying they will help them a lot as they will easily hire them.
Speaking in Nyamira town, the Nyamira County Contractors Association, led by their chairman George Morara and Secretary General Benson Kerina said that the machines will make their work easier as they improve the face of the county roads network.
They also said that they have had delays in the past when constructing roads due to lack of enough machinery and transportation services, but said that would not be a problem to them anymore.
“Now the work will be done very fast unlike in the past. We used to depend on one tipper when constructing, but we are happy the county has bought new machines, we will be able to hire them at cheaper rates," said Morara.
They also noted that the county's move was in the right direction, as this will fasten the process and build quality roads.
