Gachuba County Representative Joseph Magangi has challenged area residents to cooperate with the police in the war on crime.

The Member of County Assembly (MCA) asked residents to report any suspicious persons in the area as one way of combating crime.

“Crime is on the rise in Kitutu Masaba Constituency. We should work with the police if we are to reduce such cases,” Magangi told residents on Sunday in his ward.

The MCA further challenged the county government to finance community policing saying it has helped in curbing crime.

“Community policing has helped a lot. I ask the government to start financing community policing as one way of motivating police’s work,” he added.

Residents in Magombo and Kebobi villages were terrorised by an unknown gang a week ago who raided their homes to steal property.

However, the gang’s mission was thwarted after police came to their rescue following a tip off from the public.
