Kisumu government has been asked to vet new universities and colleges to ensure that students get quality education.
While addressing a press conference at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground in Kisumu on Friday, Kisumu Residents' Voice Association Chairman Audi Ogada said some universities were producing half baked graduates because they offer sub-standard education.
He noted that there have been numerous complaints about institutions of higher learning not taking their roles seriously.
"Over the years, students have been complaining of lack of seriousness in some lecturers and instructors. Some of them do not even attend classes or lectures," said Ogada.
He argued that parents were paying high fees for their children’s education hence it is the students right to get quality services.
His sentiments were echoed by his Manyatta Bunge counterpart Benson Onoka who challenged the County Executive for Education, Sports,Gender and Culture Jennipher Kere to be vigilant in ensuring the colleges do not produce half-baked graduates.
