The chairman of traders in Molo Town Mr Charles Marioko has urged the county government of Nakuru to set up a fire brigade station in Molo town to manage fires that break out in the town.

This comes a few hours after a fire outbreak in Molo raced down property worth billions. Marioko has termed the Sunday’s incident as unfortunate adding that majority of the traders whose businesses were destroyed were operating on borrowed loans and were now left with no means of repaying the loans.

“It’s so unfortunate of what happened last night and I am urging the county Government to urgently set up a fire brigade station in this town to ensure that such incidences are controlled,” he said.

He has argued that the big smoke emanating from the building that houses several businesses prevented them from saving any of the items within the building adding that if there could have been a fire brigade nearby the damages incurred could have been minimized.

“The fire started at around 8.00 pm and some of us managed to respond swiftly but because of the big smoke that was coming from the building we could not recover any items from the building. We believe that if there could have been a fire brigade station situated within this area the situation could have been at least manageable” he said.
