Former Information and Communication Permanent Secretary, Bitange Ndemo has called on county governments to upgrade all polytechnics in Kenya in a bid to promote hardware manufacture in various regions.
In a statement Bitange said all counties should have functioning polytechnics that can be able to compete globally as it has the potential to manufacture local products to build capacity for the future.
“Anybody can come up with innovation and create a product out of it. I am working on one myself," said Ndemo adding, “Innovation is simple and nobody has a monopoly on it once you put your mind to it.,”
He said all Kenyans should take up the space of manufacturing especially on electronic products and stop asking China for products that can be produced locally. He added that county governments have the ability to produce their own work force that can make their regions grow more.
