Kisumu county plans to register companies owned by youths in Seme Sub-County to enable them do business with the county and national governments.

Director of Administration in the county Agai Kadiri said there are many business opportunities with the two levels of governments and urged youths to take advantage of them to better their living standards.

Kadiri, however, said the challenge is that most youth and women have no companies to enable them to do business with the governments.

He said as a step towards assisting youth, the county government in conjunction with the Registrar of Companies will this month pitch camp in the sub-county to enable youth to register their companies.

“The county government has identified the challenge affecting young people and this is in line with the registration of companies,” he said.

Addressing youths at Kit Mikayi Technical Training Institute on Friday, Kadiri said many youths are dejected due to the distance they have to travel to get their companies registered.

Currently, the service is offered in Kisumu.

East Seme Ward rep Aggrey Ogosi said young people must be supported to enable them contribute economically to the nation’s growth. “Young people must be assisted to have a brighter future,” he said.

He hailed the symposium organised by Pamoja CBO to educate youths in Seme Sub-County on their future.
