A University student was today ordered by a Nakuru Court to enroll for anger management classes after assaulting his girlfriend.

Chief magistrate Doreen Mulekyo said that anger and control of ones emotions are an integral part of growing up that must be managed.

“It’s a reality that must be overcome, if you have disagreed while together then you move on with your life instead of causing injuries to her, there is a better way to solve issues,” she said.

Mulekyo said that one can never justify their emotional and anger levels before the court after committing an offence.

She also questioned why a man in university has to beat a woman.

Joesph Wanjala who pleaded guilty of beating her girlfriend Joyce Wanjiku causing her bodily harm said that he was angry and emotional.

Wanjala is accused of allegedly assaulting Joyce Wanjiku on different dates in the month of July within Nakuru town.

Wanjiku wanted to withdraw the charges after forgiving him but was prevented by the court until Wanjala brings a report from the school he has enrolled for anger management.

State prosecutor Hillary Songoyo proposed that he Wanjala should have been used to set an example to other men who committed the same offence.

"The court has given orders for you to enroll for anger management classes and bring a letter from probation officer before the case is withdrawn against you,” said Mulekyo.

Mulekyo also urged Wanjala to see a psychiatrist and be taught on how to introspect himself before acting.
