A 20-year-old man was on Tuesday charged before the Maseno Law Courts for breaking into a house and stealing property worth Sh15,000.
Aggrey Opanda however, denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Philip Oilo for the offence allegedly committed on the October 25, in Maseno.
He also faced a second count of property destruction, which he also denied.
The court heard that Mr Opanda, a resident of Maseno was seen by neighbours breaking into the house of Juliet Okello when nobody was at the compound.
Ms Okello reported the matter to the police and investigation were launched immediately leading to the arrest of the accused.
The items stolen by Mr Opanda included a mobile phone and a computer monitor.
All the items were recovered from him.
Mr Opanda however, told the court that the complainant had his debt, and he was trying to recover it after she became adamant to repay it.
However, resident magistrate Oilo turned his request to be freed down saying the case was still at mention stage.
Mr Opanda was released on a cash bail of Sh5,000 pending the hearing on the January 14, 2016.
