A Nakuru court has ordered a former police boss to go for a Psychiatric examination to verify his eligibility to stand trial.
In regard to the magnitude of the case where a former OCS is accused of using live bullet on a rioting group instantly killing one person. Lady Justice Odera on Tuesday ordered for the medical examination before making her ruling in two weeks time.
In the case, one Mr Manyasi, a former Maralal Station OCS is accused of shooting a killing a Laikipia University student Tom Rono during riots by herders in the area.
“The accused must therefore present himself at the Nakuru Central Station for a security detail that will escort him to the County General Hospital for a psychiatric examination before I give my final verdict on the case,” Lady Justice Odera read out.
The Magistrate further cautioned Mr Manyasi against witness interference before the case is heard again on October 15, 2015.
