Karuri Ward MCA Martin Waiganjo has asked the government, the church and general public not to back down on the ongoing fight against illicit brews that have killed many youths in the county.
Speaking on Sunday during a church crusade in Banana Town, Waiganjo said the fight against the illicit brews should continue until the illicit brews are completely wiped out.
He also called for the fight to be extended to other drugs saying they are no better than the brews.
"Bhang and other equally dangerous drugs are still being trafficked here. They pose a great risk to our youths who are likely to turn to them now that they don't have access to the illicit brews," said Waiganjo.
At the same time, he appealed to the county government and the church to come up with a workable strategy that will ensure that the youths who were alcoholics are accepted back in the society.
"These are people who are living in denial. They are likely to be stigmatised and that is why we need to strategise how we can re-absorb them back in the society and make them feel they are part of us," he said.
Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange who was also in attendance had a similar opinion and urged the county government to rehabilitate the youth.
