Elburgon MCA Florence Wambui has asked women to take part in politics saying through this they will be able to advance their interests.
Wambui said that politics is not a preserve for men only, adding that through being active in politics, women will be able to push for their interests.
The MCA also asked women to demand for the implementation of two-thirds gender rule. She said that women representation in government is not a favour but their constitutional right.
Meanwhile, the county rep has asked women in the ward to seek development funds and better their living standards.
The MCA said that many women were not applying for the development funds provided by the national and county governments and hence continue to lag behind in development.
The ward rep said that women will only be able to advance economically if they take advantage of the development funds to start income-generating ventures as well as boost their businesses.
“Elburgon women should apply for the government funds if they want to be empowered socio-economically,” she said.
