Drama unfolded on Friday in Githurai, Kiambu County when an under age girl was rescued from a house whose occupants are suspected of running a child prostitution ring.

The rescue efforts were led by Mwihoko Chief Mr James Mungai after he received information from parents of the minor that their 15-year-old daughter had been spotted on several occasions entering a house in Githurai 45.

The minor’s mother revealed that her daughter, a form one student, went missing from school on Tuesday. The school administration reported the matter to her parents. She said they conducted a three-day search to locate her daughter on several occasions in the company of a neighbouring couple.

The friend alerted neighbours where the suspected couple lived, so that they remained vigilant while the parents of the minor and the chief embarked on the rescue mission.

Upon arrival, the chief and the minor’s father stormed the dimly lit house which was filled with cigarette smoke. They found the girl seated on a bed with a couple as they watched musical videos on television.

Upon questioning by the chief, the man identified himself as Evans aged 32years and the woman who was scantily dressed identified herself as Winnie and said she was 26-years-old.

The three were escorted to Githurai Police Post where the woman, upon interrogation, revealed that she had employed two other under-age girls in her prostitution ring.

She added that the two girls had gone there in search of work. The officer in charge of the police post Mr Lugo Siwa said the two will face the force of the law once investigations are completed.
