The recently launched environmental project, The E-Waste Management Initiative, is set to gain from a financial donation from their European partners.

Confirming this on Friday, a day after environmental congress, which was held in Kisii county for three days came to a close, the E-Waste Management coordinator Vicky Onderi said that the project will get over $800milion (Sh8,000,000,000) sponsorship.

She said that the money will be used in buying the electronic waste like old computers, out of use mobile phones and other gadgets; other money for the recycling of the product and paying of the working personnel who will help out in executing the whole process.

She however appreciated the Kisii University management led by the Vice Chanselor Prof. John Akama in partnership with Kisii County under the leadership of Governor James Ongwae for their concerted effort in ensuring the project was a success, and appealed to all leaders of good will not only from Kisii but from all parts of the world who have interest in keeping our environment safe to show their support towards this project.

“We want to appeal to all world dwellers to direct their effort to this initiative, let each and every one be a role model by safeguarding the world, all counties from within should be ready for this project; this just a beginning there is more to be done,” the coordinator said.
