Six more people died on Monday night bringing to eight the casualties of an early Monday morning accident.
The fatal accident occurred along the Thika-Garissa Highway near Makongeni at 2am.
According to Thika traffic police base commander Apelles Chacha, the accident involved three vehicles; a newspaper van, a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and a Mercedes car.
Chacha noted that the police who had been on patrol overnight in Thika East arrived in Makongeni when the accident occurred and they were able to rush the six injured to hospital.
According to a survivor, Bernard Mwangi, who is also the conductor of the PSV, the newspaper van was speeding on its way towards Delmonte when the Mercedes car appeared ramming into it.
The PSV which was behind the others, according to Mwangi, veered off the road killing four of its passengers while others were seriously injured.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to General Kago Funeral Home in Thika while the injured are are admitted at Thika Level Five Hospital.
