At least eight people on Monday night sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Molo.

The eight were travelling from Kericho to Nakuru when the accident occurred near Molo Secondary School. According Joseph Jino, who survived the accident, the matatu that they were travelling in hit a stationery tractor when trying to overtake other vehicle. 

Jino said the tractor did not have any lifesaver sign making the driver to fail to notice it until it was too close to avoid.

"Our vehicle hit the stationery tractor, which had nnot indicated it was parked by the road to alert other road users," said Jino.

John Kuka an eyewitness, said the driver of the matatu which belongs to Nakuru-Kisii Nissan Sacco after the the accident, the Matatu was at a high speed and could not avoid hitting the tractor.

Kuka said the tractors are not allowed to operate at night as they have no sign to other road users. The injured were rushed to Molo Sub-District hospital and Nakuru County Hospital for treatment.
