Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has lauded efforts by elders’ forum in bolstering cohesion and unity in the society.
Kinuthia was speaking on Thursday in his office when the Nakuru County Elders Forum paid a courtesy call to him.
He also praised the imrovved relations between the county government and the forum, terming it as instrumental in realization of developmental goals.
“I am pleased to host the elders as this is a key step in enhancing cooperation and unity amongst diverse communities. My government will also facilitate plans to hold more regular meetings even once per month so that we can work together in reaching the communities right to the grass roots,” said Mbugua.
“We shall also be having moments of brainstorming to evaluate some issues affecting our communities across the county,” he added.
The 50-member elders’ team, drawn across the 11 sub counties in the entire county, in return, pledged their support and expressed their gratitude for recognition and support by the governor.
Led by their chairman Wilson Leitich, they also called for a tight co-operation between them and the county government to be able to address arising issues that affect development.
“We assure the governor to continually work with the county government in all matters key to development. We are the people on the ground and sometimes important information gets to us first therefore the need for our incorporation I addressing these matters,” Leitich said.
