Residents of Uasin Gishu County will soon be able to beat the passport application headache at the Huduma Centre in Eldoret.

According to the centre manager Edwin Bett, the government is planning to introduce the much-awaited service at the doorstep of every Kenyan by next year.

“We are aware that there are very important services that have since been left out of the Huduma Centre while they are required by many Kenyans. We are therefore working hard to ensure that such services are available at the doorstep of every citizen of this country to save them costs of travel and reduce the time taken," he said.

"Huduma Centre is currently working on availing passport application and collection services in every centre, including here in Eldoret”, he added.

Currently, people from all over the country are forced to travel to the capital, Nairobi, to apply for and collect passports, which is a travelling necessity.

The Kenya National Examination Council and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) are among the bodies whose services will also be offered at the centre in the near future.

The Huduma Centre initiative got a worldwide recognition earlier this year when it was voted the best institution in Africa.
