Chiefs and their assistants in Uasin GIshu County have been urged to make sure that every child goes to school, failure to which stern actions will be taken against them.
Speaking at Moi University after launching the laptop assembling plant on Wednesday, Ruto said that education is the only empowerment that the government can offer a child, and no one should be a stumbling block since it is their constitutional right and as a government have offered free and compulsory education.
“I order all chiefs and their assistants to ensure that all children who are of age to join school do. Any parent denying a child a right to education should be arrested and prosecuted immediately,” said Ruto.
He further added that all headteachers in possession of students/pupils certificates due to unpaid fees should surrender them immediately, since they are denying poor children avenues either to be employed or proceed with their education.
The Deputy was in Uasin Gishu to lay foundation to a laptop assembling plant, and inspect other government projects in the county.
