Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has challenged youths in the county to exploit their talents in performing arts, instead of leaving such resources going to waste.
Ongwae encouraged young people to tap into the potential in the field of performing art and film production, to create job opportunities for themselves and their peers.
Speaking at the close of the International Youth Day at the Kisii Culture Centre on Wednesday, Ongwae advised young people from the county on the benefits from performing art and film production industry, which he said had a lot of opportunities for talented people.
Ongwae further challenged the youth to identify their talents as the county plans to set aside resources for them to nurture their talents through establishment of a talent academy.
“I am encouraging young people who are talented in the areas of performing arts and film production to exploit their talents to economically empower themselves and their families,” stated Ongwae.
Ongwae clarified that his government will set aside financial resources to fund establishment of the talent academy, where talented youths will showcase their talents and receive support to pursue them to the highest levels of their dreams.
