Farmers in Kisii County have been urged to enrol enrol in various online platforms to market their products with ease.
Keumbu Ward representative Kennedy Michira during a tour in his area said that social networking sites have the ability to create new opportunities for increased sales for traders in the area.
He urged traders to equip themselves with adequate knowledge of various online platforms saying that diverse markets lay untapped in different parts of the country and also within Kisii County itself.
He says social media has been helping many youth to get more clients and if that is applied in Keumbu area more income would be generated.
“Twitter and Facebook are vital tools when researching and getting potential clients for your commodities and we need to use these tools to the maximum to reach to worldwide markets which have grown three times in last three years,” said Michira
He highlighted efficiency, cost-effectiveness and wider reach as major advantages of online marketing of farm products.
He called upon the area youth who are well conversant with the use of social media to enlighten others so that they can uplift each other.
