As the country prepares for the El nino rains, a section of maize and beans farmers from Muhoroni Kisumu county are having sleepless nights over the fate of their crops since they are not mature yet.
"Our crops have reached a vital stage where they need sunlight in order to fully mature," said Paul Okumu.
They are afraid that they might be forced to cut down the crops and feed their animals to avoid wastage which will lead to financial losses.
According to them, beans are usually harvested by this time of the year but that they have not shown any signs of maturing, and this is due to lack of enough sunlight.
"If this rains could delay just a bit allowing us to experience sunlight for just 2 weeks, everything will be fine", said Maria Okumu a farmer from the area.
