President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday urged the East African Community military integration in a bid to fight terrorism in the region.

Speaking during the Kenya Military Academy officers cadets commissioning parade in Lanet,  Nakuru County, the President said by integrating officers from Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Burundi regional integration was being enhanced.

"There is need to join hands in neutralising terrorists citing that the military might alone would not wipe out the terrorist threats," added the President.

Uhuru awarded officer Namanya Daniel from the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) with the commandant trophy and the best allied officer cadet in order of merit.

Uhuru also added that the officers were joining the military at a refining moment of the history where the government was modernising the Kenya Defence Force.

"Government will continue to provide the requisite resources to enable the military match with the emerging global security challenges," said Uhuru.

The President reminded them that they have the responsibility to uphold the highest code of ethics and professionalism in order to guard the good image of KDF.

"Uphold the ethics and serve the nation to avoid irresponsible behavior that could ruin their career,"urged the President.

The graduands there after will be deployed to different units and formations under the post of second lieutenants.

 CSs Raychelle Omamo (Defence), Joseph Nkaissery (Interior), top military leadership among others accompanied the President.
