Nakuru leaders have been advised not to be carried away by the oncoming 2017 elections and forget finalising on all pending projects before their terms elapse.

According to Amani Coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi, politics is a game that has seen young leaders forgo their mandate in the name of strategizing on how to be re-elected.

“It is interesting how the 2017 polls hype is taking over the country especially to first timers in politics. Don’t forget that the electorate is focusing on all of you to ensure they don’t make the same mistake of electing non performing leaders,” Mr Mudavadi warned.

Mr Mudavadi, who held a series of campaigns over the weekend in Nakuru county asked the common mwananchi to support the devolved system of government which he termed to as the driver to a better Kenya.

“If you feel nothing has been done under the county government, be patience because this was the pioneer term, once everything is in order, all of us will feel the importance of this system of governance where development starts at the grassroot level,” he said.

The former deputy prime minister under the coalition government that was brought into existence by the disputed 2007 presidential results tasked leaders to be initiators of change, saying that the country is suffering a serious political disease because of irresponsible and self-centered leaders who are out to satisfy their ego.

“2007 was one of the darkest political transition periods I have witnessed in my political carrier. My prayer is that it never happens again. Let us take up the responsibility as leaders to preach peace during political rallies,” he noted.

He applauded the efforts governor Kinuthia Mbugua had employed in making the county a better place saying that in his personal view, Nakuru was among the best performing counties in matters development.

Mr Mudavadi is on across the county political tour aimed at solidifying his campaign bases ahead of 2017 polls.
