Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has urged leaders in the county to focus on service delivery and shun issues that will not benefit the people.

The senator said that elected leaders have the responsibility to ensure that locals have access to basic services.

Speaking on Sunday in Thika Town, Wamatangi said that time has come for leaders to work for the benefit of the citizens.

He said that continued politicking among leaders has denied locals access to services.

“It is time for elected leaders across Kiambu to get to work and provide services to the people who elected them to office,” he said.

The senator urged the Kiambu government to fast track development projects across all areas in the county.

He said the county government has resources that should be used for the benefit of the people.

“The county government is among those that get a good share of the national budget, and the funds must be used wisely on projects that will benefit the people,” he said.

Wamatangi said that poverty and unemployment will reduce if the county government invests in development projects, adding that he is pushing for more allocation of funds to the counties.
