Boda boda operators from Manga Ward in Nyamira County have been challenged to form groups that can help them benefit from the county government’s kitty.
According to area MCA Mr Peter Maroro, the county government has established a kitty to benefit the operators.
He asked them to form groups in order to be funded and invest the money to improve their living standards.
Addressing Manga bodaboda operators on Wednesday at Tombe, Maroro said that majority of bodaboda operators from his ward face numerous challenges when conducting their businesses, since most of them do not have their own motorbikes.
Maroro promised to help them succeed in their business ventures but said they needed to form groups first before they can benefit.
"Most boda boda operators in my ward face many challenges, I am asking them to form groups so that they can be funded to buy their own motorbikes. Since most of them are employed, it becomes hard for them to make their own money and that of their employers," he said.
Boda boda operators chairman in Nyamira Mr Bernard Orindo challenged leaders in the county to help the operators form Saccos in various areas.
Manga boda boda operators opened their Sacco office at Tombe on Wednesday.
