Former commissioner at the defunct Interim Independent Electoral Commission Roza Buyu has announced her intention to run for the Kisumu West parliamentary seat in 2017.
Buyu who contested for the same seat in the 2013 general election on an ODM ticket and lost to Olago Aluoch of Ford Kenya said she was ready to try her luck again.
She dispelled rumours that she intends to vie for the Kisumu County Women Representative seat.
“Some people are going round saying that I will be vying for women rep in 2017," she said.
"I want to tell them that I am here in Kisumu West and ready to face these men who have shown interest in the seat."
She said her intention is to help in terms of development the people of Kisumu West.
Speaking during the launch of the strategic plan for Kogony Community at Kirembe Primary School on Friday, Buyu said she would continue fighting to represent her people in parliament.
“I was born in Bondo but got married here in Kisumu West, it is here that I must represent my people in parliament. It is my duty to look at the interest of orphans, widows and the aged when I am in the national assembly,” she said.
She said when she lost the seat, she did not lose hope.
Buyu, who is an official at the ODM head office said she will not abandon politics.
