Police in Yatta town on Thursday arrested four people suspected to have broken into a supermarket and stole goods worth Sh150,000.
The four were arrested after a review of CCTV footage showed them breaking into the supermarket before stealing the goods.
Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said two of the suspected thugs were arrested inside a residential house sleeping.
They led police officers to an adjustment house where the other two were arrested.
Police, he said were tipped by the supermarket's employee who availed photograph print-outs of from the CCTV footage.
Mr Kipsang told the press after the arrest that police suspect the gang could be larger than expected.
Two of those arrested he said were identified by residents as among a gang that has terrorised them for long.
He said police will pursue other gang members.
"We are aware that they are more than 15 but those caught on camera are just four and we are dealing with these ones as we investigate and pursue others," he said.
He said police were also investigating allegations that a prominent person in Yaata town buys goods bought by the gang members.
The suspects will appear in court on Friday
