Women have been praised for embracing entrepreneurship and the various governments’ support towards the same.

Nakuru County director of Gender and Youths Affairs in the Devolution ministry William Migwi noted that out of the 30 per cent government tenders set aside for youths, women and the disabled, a majority had gone to women.

“I congratulate our women for the good work you are doing in business. This is commendable since you have defied all societal barriers to venture into entrepreneurship,” he said.

He asked the youth in the region to emulate women saying their performance was below par.

He was speaking at a youth’s entrepreneurship training at the Presbyterian University of East Africa, Nakuru Campus on Monday.

“It is so unfortunate that despite the great hope we have placed in you, you have really let us down. You have not lived up to our expectations. You have left the women to take up most of the tenders,” said the county director.

The director urged women not to slow down while challenging the youth to embrace job creation rather than being job seekers for them to be at par with the modern world.
