Residents of Gesima ward in Kitutu Masaba constituency have a reason to smile, after area MCA announced a grand plan of pumping water to two locations in a period of two months.

Speaking at Riooga village on Wednesday, Ken Atuti said the move is aimed at providing clean water, and to also pump out water found in swampy areas in a bid to prevent any risk of contracting water borne diseases.

According to Atuti, the project will commence in September and is likely to take two months, after the county government subsidised the pumping process.

“My people should have access to clean water and I have immediately started the project in the swampy areas. This aims at preventing the likelihood of contracting water borne diseases. The county government had released Sh5 million and the ward development fund will give an additional Sh1 million and I really thank them,” he said.

Atuti said the project is likely to extend to other areas, and urged residents to give his administration time to roll out the programme to benefit all regions.

“This isn’t an isolated case, and I want to assure you that every resident will have an access to pumped clean water. Please give me time to roll out the programme because we cannot do it to all regions at once,” he added.

The programme will see Riamoni and Mochenwa locations benefit from the project, before it extends to five other locations.
