Efforts by Nakuru East Town MP David Gikaria to demolish a wall belonging to the Kenya Railways Corporation were halted on Tuesday by law enforcers after they confronted the legislator together with his hired youth. The disputed land which is located at the Nairobi-Nakuru round about and has been the center of controversy and the MP has claimed that the land belongs to the public .

“The land in question was hived from public land and the Kenya Railways Corporation should revert it back to the public," said Gikaria.

Police had to use tear gas to disperse the rowdy youth who had ascended on the disputed parcel of land with tools to pull down the wall .

Speaking on Tuesday at Nakuru Town after the aborted attempt, Gikaria vowed to bring back the land back to the public .

“I will use all means to ensure the land is reverted back to the public said Gikaria.

Gikaria said that he would lead a vote of no confidence to the Managing Director of the Kenya Railways Corporation in the National Assembly.

“I will table a motion to the National Assembly to have vote of no confidence on the MD of the Kenya Railways Corporation,” said Gikaria.

The legislation alleged that powerful politicians are behind the grabbing of the land and vowed to mobilise the public to resist their greedy.

“Nakuru residents should rally behind me in protecting the public utilities from being grabbed by politically -correct individuals" said Gikaria .

Normalcy returned after police officers brought the situation under control .
