A 16-year-old girl was defiled and several people injured, during fresh protests by a section of youth protesting against alleged unfair dismissal from the NYS program on Wednesday morning in Kiandutu, Thika.
According to police, the girl was caught up in the protests and was reportedly dragged into a maize farm where she was raped and robbed of her mobile phone.
Thika OCS Robert Okinya said that the culprits robbed other residents by forcing them to surrender their valuables using crude weapons.
The victim later reported to the police post in Kiandutu after which police officers took her to Kiandutu level four hospital and she was confirmed to have been raped.
The OCPD said that police are holding two suspects in connection with the incident.
Most of the youth are said to have reported for normal work in the morning after the regional director of NYS on Tuesday resolved the issue.
The police however were able to contain the situation as fast as they could. The victim is admitted in Thika level five hospital.
