Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo has urged traders at Githurai market to be patient as she pushes for the construction of stalls to secure their products.
This comes after a series of theft cases at the market with the traders saying that their products are usually stolen after they have closed business.
They wondered why their goods are stolen despite the presence of guards at market.
But speaking at the market on Tuesday morning, the MP said that the permanent market stalls will help secure their goods from thieves.
She added that although the market’s renovation has been a challenge for the authorities due to congestion, they will work out on a favourable plan to ensure no one is affected during the exercise.
“If we have to construct stalls or renovate the market, then you will have to shift from the market and we have nowhere to relocate you for the time being. We will have to do it in phases but after consultations, we will get a solution,” Gathogo said.
On Tuesday morning, the MP made a ward to ward tour to consult residents on the type of projects that the public wants initiated in the area.
