Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged Kenyans to go for cancer screening at least once in a year.

Speaking on Friday during a seminar on cancer at Sirikwa Hotel in Eldoret that brought together doctors and patients of cancer in the North Rift, Chemno said that cancer is among the top killers. He said according to the World Health Organization, it claims more than 80 per cent of patients compared to any other disease.

"I urge Kenyans to be going for cancer testing as frequently as possible so that it can be discovered early for it to be treated early. As the Uasin Gishu County government, we will make sure that we make treatment of cancer affordable and anyone who is suffering from the disease should be taken to the hospital to reduce deaths that have recently been witnessed," he said.

He also urged Uasin Gishu residents to always take care of their bodies by eating balanced diet.
