Fish farmers in Kisii County have a reason to smile, after the Agriculture CeC Vincent Sagwe said the National government is soon going to construct a fish factory as one way of reducing loses that the farmers incur.
Speaking on Thursday at Kisii town Sagwe noted that fish farmers have been incurring losses because they do not have a ready fish market to take their produce after harvesting.
According to Sagwe, the county government shared with the national government concerning the matter, and came up with the solution that they will work together to set up a fish factory in Kisii.
“It has been difficult for fish farmers in our county in getting a fish market, but now let them expand their fish farming system because soon we are going to have a fish factory here in Kisii,” noted Sagwe.
“We have been receiving their complaints on market issues, and we as the county government we decided to look for all ways possible of helping them. The national government is going to construct the fish factory and I think that is the solution for their challenge. I urge all fish farmers to expand their fish farming because they are going to benefit from their harvesting,” added Sagwe.
