Kenya Social Congress Party leader Mr Atati Kengere has challenged Nyamira county government to move Chepilat traders who conduct their business near Sotik- Kisii Road to their market plot to avoid accidents.
According to him there is a market plot that was bought before and the traders should be moved from Chepilat road sides to their plot to avoid accidents which have been on the rise in the recent past.
This has come out after the Friday tragic accident that involved a Nairobi bound truck carrying timber and a matatu, leading to loss of lives and mass loss of property at Chepilat.
Kengere urged the county government to move the traders to their specific market plot because many lives have been lost through accidents.
“Let the government allow the market plot to be used by traders. If they continue conducting their business at the road side then we might continue seeing many lives being lost,” noted Mr Kengere.
Chepilat tragedy left seven people dead and several other injured.
