Both the national and county governments need to work together in a bid of coming up with effective measures in preparation to the expected El-nino rains.
This sentiment was made by the Mlolongo assistant county commissioner, Obed Mose, who said the joint partnership in projects geared towards preventing damage from the expected rains is very essential.
"There are lots of measures which need to be put into consideration while executing projects that will ensure Mlolongo residents are safe when the rains fall," said Mose.
Mose said the town and its environs was more prone to flooding due to the fact that it does not have adequate proper drainage systems.
He revealed that even little down pour have in several occasions caused a lot of flooding in many houses within and out of the town, thereby posing health and security risks to the residents.
Mose noted that there should be a proper architectural planning of the town to ensure that proper drainage systems are urgently constructed before the end of this month.
He said even though there were already a few development agencies working on a few new drainage systems in the area, their was a need for concerted effort for grand projects on the same.
Mose said he had consulted the area MCA, Recho Ndambuki, on the need for partnership on the projects and they will soon be meeting to chat a way forward.
The commissioner who addressed the press in his office on Saturday, said the national government is keen and very committed to ensuring that none of residents of the town lose either property or life when El-nino strikes.
